Summer provides you with a variety of opportunities such as exploring the heights of Grandfather Mountain or the depths of the Linville Caverns. Family fun can be had by spending the day at Tweetsie Railroad. Perhaps you would like to take in the beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway? Stop at Linville Falls or mine for gems at one of the areas many gem mines.

Autumn transforms the area into a wonderland of reds, golds, purples and other shades too numerous to mention. Take a romantic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway and lose yourself in a riot of color, or take the family hiking along any number of trails, rated from easy to difficult.

Think that Winter means you can’t get away? Not in the High Country. With four wonderful ski slopes that overlook the centuries old resort towns of Blowing Rock, Boone and Banner Elk, the High Country provides you with quality skiing. Ice Skating, Winter Biking and Hiking are also available for those hardy souls who aren’t afraid a little cold weather. Breathtaking long range views from various overlooks also offer a way to get out and enjoy the day as you travel along the Blue Ridge Parkway, but don’t stop there…

Spring brings with it the return of some beautiful flora and fauna. Songbirds return to herald each day. Rivers provide swift currents for whitewater rafting and other river expeditions. Fishermen delight as an abundance of trout swim the local waters. Come enjoy our annual musical celebration of bluegrass and folk music.
